Accessibility Statement

Last updated July 25, 2026

Commitment to Accessibility

Ride The Heavy is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, magnification, or keyboard-only navigation. We are actively working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

We believe that content should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Our website is built on WordPress with Elementor, and we structure our content to be accessible to the broadest possible audience, including those with disabilities.

What We’ve Done So Far

We’ve conducted an accessibility audit of the site and implemented the following improvements:

  • Improved logo accessibility: Added a proper accessible name to the site logo link in the header and footer, so screen reader users hear “Ride The Heavy — Home” instead of an unlabeled link.
  • Fixed ARIA structure: Corrected an ARIA structure conflict on our blog and category post-grid layouts, where a list role was applied to a container that did not have proper list-item children.
  • Enhanced color contrast: Increased the color contrast of excerpt text on article pages so it meets the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1.

This work is ongoing, and we periodically re-scan the site to check for and fix new issues as the site evolves.

How We Test

We use automated accessibility scanning (axe-core) across our pages as a first pass. Automated tools catch roughly 30–40% of accessibility issues, so we also review pages manually where practical, including keyboard navigation testing.

Known Limitations

Some of our blog posts include an embedded YouTube video. The video player’s on-screen controls are generated entirely by YouTube and are outside our control — we cannot edit that markup ourselves. If you encounter a problem with an embedded YouTube player, we’d encourage reporting it to YouTube directly, in addition to letting us know through our feedback channel below.

Feedback

If you experience any accessibility barriers on this site, please contact us and let us know the page and what happened. We will do our best to address it.

We are continually improving our accessibility by adding, updating, and enhancing our options and features, and by developing and adopting new technologies. Our goal is to reach the optimal level of accessibility in line with technological advancements.
